Bill Taylor and The Appalachian Heatherns w/ Johnny Logan and the Roughnecks

Billy Andrew Taylor was born in Greeneville, South Carolina on July 26 th , 1989. Bill was raised in Harlan, KY, before his dad moved them to Bell County, where they became permanent residents. Growing up in Southeastern KY, religion will always play a big role in everyone’s life, whichever side of the aisle you fall on. Bill was raised in the Pentecostal/Holiness churches and this is where he learned that he could sing and also where he honed his skills on the guitar and bass.

As Bill got older, he wanted to showcase his vocals a little more and he decided that he would form a band and share his music with anyone that would listen. Of course, with the God given talent that Bill has, you would expect that others in his family could play and sing as well and you would be right. Bill’s father, Billy Taylor Sr also has some smoking hot talent, as you will

see as his tantalizing guitar picking and his smooth, but raspy vocals pierce through your skin and settle into your heart. When Bill decided to start the band, who more would a young man want standing beside them on those big stages than his father? That’s exactly who Bill chose to play lead guitar/harp and stand as his backing vocalist.

If you are going to have a band, you will always need someone behind you, laying down that smooth beat. Mr. Joe Cox hails from Middlesboro Kentucky and is one of the most genuine, top notched people that you will ever meet. He never get’s pressure and is always smooth as silk, laying those groovy drum beats down and also keeping the band held together. You will see

Joe in the back, either behind his Cajon or a drum kit, but the one thing that will always remain constant, is that big smile.

Together, Bill, Billy and Joe make up the band and they spend their time, dedicating themselves to their craft, hammering out every single note until it’s perfect. With several songs being written from Bill and Billy, they are pushing their music out into the honky tonks and dives. You might hear a few covers, but it will most likely be a 49 Winchester, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers,

Red Clay Strays or Chris Stapleton tune, because those are heavy influences in Bills work, along with other greats like Keith Whitely, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Ben Tod and Hank Williams Sr.
